Our Coaches
Alan Tallman
Head Coach
As a coach, Tallman describes himself as a strategist and keen on game planning and in-game strategy. He also said that his strength as a coach is building trustworthy relationships with players.
“What goes with leadership is cultivating relationships and being a support system outside of the X’s and O’s,” he said. “What differentiates a coach at a high school level is developing trust.”
Justin Young
Coach
Coach Young grew up in Fairport, NY and played lacrosse for Fairport High School. From there he went on to play for the D3 powerhouse program at Cortland.
He has worked with the MCAA youth lacrosse program for several years, serving as both a coach and a member of the board. His twin boys Kohl and Kyle play for the MCAA youth program, and his lovely wife Silvana and dog Brutus can often be found in the stands supporting the whole team.
Coach Young believes in hard work, full effort, and giving 100% of the time, and is excited to bring his dedication to the program!
John Duffy
Defense Coach
Coach Duffy played HS Lacrosse from 84-87 at Nyack High School in Nyack, NY. He went on to play Division 1 College Lacrosse at Virginia Military Institute and finished as a 4-year Letterman.
He has over 10+ years coaching experience at all levels (U9-HS Varsity) including programs such as MC Youth Lacrosse, Hawks Select, Georgia Blackhawks, FCA, Thunder LB3 Gwinnett. He resides in Dacula with his wife (June), two children (Will and Andrew) and dog (Lucy).
Brandon Savoie
Coach
Coach Savoie grew up in the Mill Creek community and played lacrosse at MCHS. In 2015 he went on to play Division 1 lacrosse for High Point University in North Carolina.
A few of his accolades include All County Specialty Player of the Year, Gwinnett County Super 6, Gwinnett County Player of the Year and Georgia All-State 1st Team. He has also been recognized as a Scholar Athlete throughout his high school and college career.
Coach Savoie's lacrosse specialty is facing off. He took 285 face offs at High Point, finishing his college career in 2019 at 54%.
Brian Koning
Coach
Coach Koning began his coaching career in 2012 with the MCAA Youth Lacrosse Program. Additionally, he has worked with Georgia Blackhawks, Hawks Select, LB3 Gwinnett and Riverside Military Academy. He has been on staff with MCHS since 2019.
The Konings have been living in the Mill Creek community since 2009. He is married with four children.
